Set well back from a country road that wends its way through former farmland, this site proved ideal for the new English Arts & Crafts manor house desired by our client, a dedicated Anglophile. A winding drive leads to the front courtyard of this 8,000 square-foot, L-shaped house. The main view is located at the rear, overlooking fields and terraces sloping down to the pool. Both the scale of the house and the materials of its façade create an effect at once unpretentious and grand. The upper level of the exterior features stucco panels, heavy timber and upper wood shingles; thin stone and red brick comprise the lower level. Other interior and exterior details characteristic of the Arts & Crafts style abound.
