This house distills the simple vernacular forms and classic architectural elements into a hybrid suited for modern living. The entry pays respect to the organization of the traditional façade in a modern way. Shingled window returns replace traditional casing work, and the traditional entry pediment is redefined with a floating plane.
The staircase allows visual transparency vertically between three levels, and horizontally from living room to breakfast room.
Large expanses of glass allow for the interplay between outside gardens and interior living areas. A roof deck is bordered with a sedum roof continuing the relationship between the architecture and the landscape.
