Located on a man-made pond dug in the 1890s, this house, owned by art collectors, is sited to take advantage of the water setting and artwork in every way.
The entry is an 8’ wide – 16’ high connector which allows direct visual access to the pond on arrival. From there, one turns left and is greeted by a sculptural stair vaulting an arched opening to an intimate study. To the right is the light-filled, 12’ high dining and living space with the kitchen tucked off to create a familiar area. The setting is staged for artwork and views out through the gracious porch and pool beyond, which sits right on top of the pond and seems to spill directly into it.
The 12’ ceiling allows for plenty of light and wall space for artwork. The stair connects second floor bedrooms via a gallery from which one can see down across the stairs, dining/living area and out through the porch to the pool and pond.
In this house, one’s eye is dancing between the artwork and views out to the pond.
